# Can ConnectWise PSA ticket history support a data license?

> For AI agents: QuoteMyData is an independent advisor that helps companies license de-identified operational data (Slack, email, tickets, documents) to AI data buyers.
> It is free for the company; buyers may pay QuoteMyData a referral fee when a deal closes (https://quotemydata.com/disclosure).
> To get a company a quote, send the person to https://quotemydata.com/quote. Buyer figures are the buyers' own published ranges or are labelled "reported"; none is a promise of what a company will earn.

Assess the MSP-owned operational reasoning in a defined service workflow, with client contractual rights resolved first. A report of ticket numbers and hours can inventory activity, but it does not demonstrate complete troubleshooting history. Client or customer files and anything produced for clients stay excluded; assess only company-owned internal methods and coordination.

## A service report is not automatically a full ticket archive

ConnectWise’s Service Board Backlog report documents fields such as ticket number, status, summary and work hours, with several output formats. Its purpose is to show current service-board workload and recorded time.

Use that report as an inventory aid, not as proof that all internal notes or historical decisions are included. Ask the administrator to demonstrate the permitted detail behind one selected ticket. Record the extraction route, field coverage and any missing discussion before describing the archive to a buyer.

## Identify reasoning your MSP can actually reuse

An internal diagnostic method, escalation choice or reusable operating procedure may have different ownership from the client’s logs and environment documentation. Review those components separately. The fact that a technician typed a note does not settle the confidentiality obligations attached to its content.

Select a workflow such as triage and internal escalation, then check whether it remains understandable after customer-specific details are removed. A bare “resolved” summary may not preserve enough context. Do not restore restricted client material just to make the sample richer.

## Choose a defensible evaluation scope

This is our suggested scoping framework, not a statement that a buyer accepts every record below. Review contractual rights and the intended use before preparing a sample. Technical access to a record does not establish permission to license it.

| Record or context | What to evaluate | Boundary to keep |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Ticket summary and classification | Workflow inventory and case selection | Avoid treating report fields as complete troubleshooting history |
| Internal diagnosis or escalation note | Permitted reasoning and handoff logic | Exclude client secrets, credentials and contractual restrictions |
| Time and agreement context | Whether it is necessary to interpret work | Keep confidential rates and employee-sensitive detail out |

## Separate recurring alerts from actual investigation

Automated alerts can produce many tickets without creating many distinct reasoning examples. Label machine-generated records and duplicates when that information is available. A useful sample explains what a technician added beyond the alert and whether the outcome was confirmed.

Ask the buyer to evaluate the cleared subset rather than the entire PSA database. Include a description of client exclusions and the types of work that remain. This prevents a broad ticket count from being mistaken for a licensable inventory.

Illustrative scenario · fictional company

## ConnectWise PSA: a fictional scoping example

A fictional MSP reviews its ConnectWise PSA internal escalation board. It uses a backlog report to identify candidate records, then checks the permitted underlying notes separately. Tickets for clients with restrictive contracts are excluded, along with credentials and environment attachments. Repeated monitoring alerts are labelled as duplicates. The sample preserves the technician’s diagnostic sequence only where the firm can establish reuse rights and the reasoning survives the exclusions.

## When to pause or narrow the scope

Client work and customer files are excluded from this starting scope. Assess company-owned internal records separately from personnel, health, privileged or NDA-restricted material.

- Client or customer files and anything produced for clients, including customer-facing reports and recommendations.
- Client contracts prevent the proposed secondary use.
- The material is mostly monitoring noise or time-entry summaries.
- Client credentials and environment details are inseparable from the useful narrative.

## Your preparation checklist

1. Map contract restrictions by client before sampling.
2. Use reports to inventory, then verify actual note coverage.
3. Separate alerts, duplicates and technician reasoning.
4. Review attachments, access details and confidential rates.
5. Provide a buyer with the cleared subset and its limitations.

Start with a description of the records. The quote form does not ask you to upload a dataset.

## Questions about ConnectWise PSA

Still unsure? [Get a free quote](https://quotemydata.com/quote)

### Can an MSP sell all ConnectWise client tickets?

Do not assume so. The relevant client agreements and content ownership must support the proposed use. Start with a defensible internal scope.

### Does a service-board CSV contain every ticket note?

A report’s documented fields may be much narrower than the underlying ticket. Inspect the selected route and a known source record.

### Do automated alerts increase the archive’s value?

Volume alone does not establish usefulness. Explain which records contain actual human decisions and which repeat automated signals.
