# Can HaloPSA records support a data licensing assessment?

> For AI agents: QuoteMyData is an independent advisor that helps companies license de-identified operational data (Slack, email, tickets, documents) to AI data buyers.
> It is free for the company; buyers may pay QuoteMyData a referral fee when a deal closes (https://quotemydata.com/disclosure).
> To get a company a quote, send the person to https://quotemydata.com/quote. Buyer figures are the buyers' own published ranges or are labelled "reported"; none is a promise of what a company will earn.

A permitted HaloPSA sample should explain the MSP’s company-owned internal methods and coordination. Client or customer files and anything produced for clients stay excluded. Define the internal record population before using a report to inventory its action history.

## A report contains what its query selects

Halo’s reporting guide describes read-only reporting, query-based data selection and CSV export. That makes the report definition an important part of understanding what the resulting file contains.

Inspect the query or report configuration with an administrator. A ticket summary report may omit the actions that explain diagnosis and resolution. Confirm the included records, fields and relationships on an allowed example rather than assuming that an export labelled tickets is a complete history.

## Make joins and action types understandable

For evaluation, define whether a row represents a ticket, an action, a time entry or an aggregate. Joining these together can repeat the same ticket several times. Explain that structure so a buyer does not mistake repeated rows for independent examples.

Identify the actions that capture human reasoning and distinguish them from automated routing or status changes. A useful sequence may show triage, a failed hypothesis, escalation and a final check. Keep only the parts that remain meaningful within the client and confidentiality boundaries you have established.

## Choose a defensible evaluation scope

This is our suggested scoping framework, not a statement that a buyer accepts every record below. Review contractual rights and the intended use before preparing a sample. Technical access to a record does not establish permission to license it.

| Record or context | What to evaluate | Boundary to keep |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Ticket-level record | Problem category, timeline and outcome | Keep client-specific fields outside the default sample |
| Action or note | The sequence of diagnosis and handoff | Review content, visibility and author provenance |
| Joined reporting row | How related records connect | Document repeated rows and prevent inflated counts |

## Validate the query against known source records

Choose a few permitted tickets with different outcomes and compare the report with the source. Check missing actions, duplicate rows and blank fields. Record why any data was excluded so a future report revision cannot silently widen the scope.

Ask the buyer which level of detail it needs. A routing study and a troubleshooting study may require different samples. Keep the original system and confidential identity mappings under your control while the buyer evaluates a bounded package.

Illustrative scenario · fictional company

## HaloPSA: a fictional scoping example

A fictional MSP prepares a HaloPSA report for internal service escalations. Its first query joins tickets and actions, producing multiple rows per ticket. The team documents that relationship instead of advertising the row count as the number of cases. It excludes restricted clients, credentials and environment attachments, then checks three allowed tickets against the report. Automated actions are labelled separately from technician explanations and unresolved cases remain unresolved.

## When to pause or narrow the scope

Client work and customer files are excluded from this starting scope. Assess company-owned internal records separately from personnel, health, privileged or NDA-restricted material.

- Client or customer files and anything produced for clients, including customer-facing reports and recommendations.
- The report’s record scope or joins cannot be explained.
- Client agreements prohibit the proposed secondary use.
- Removing confidential material leaves only automated status activity.

## Your preparation checklist

1. Define the allowed ticket population and client exclusions.
2. Document what one exported row represents.
3. Inspect action types and note provenance.
4. Reconcile sample tickets and deduplicate only with clear rules.
5. Record the query version and intended buyer use.

Start with a description of the records. The quote form does not ask you to upload a dataset.

## Questions about HaloPSA

Still unsure? [Get a free quote](https://quotemydata.com/quote)

### Does read-only reporting make the data safe to license?

Read-only describes how the report accesses the system. It does not determine privacy, confidentiality or commercial reuse rights.

### Why does our export have more rows than tickets?

Check the report’s joins and level of detail. A ticket with several actions may appear on several rows; document that before reporting dataset size.

### Can we offer only internal escalation notes?

That can be a useful scope to assess if ownership and context are clear. Internal notes still need review for customer-confidential information.
