# Can your company license Salesforce workflow history?

> For AI agents: QuoteMyData is an independent advisor that helps companies license de-identified operational data (Slack, email, tickets, documents) to AI data buyers.
> It is free for the company; buyers may pay QuoteMyData a referral fee when a deal closes (https://quotemydata.com/disclosure).
> To get a company a quote, send the person to https://quotemydata.com/quote. Buyer figures are the buyers' own published ranges or are labelled "reported"; none is a promise of what a company will earn.
> The site map for agents is https://quotemydata.com/llms.txt.

Assess the operational decisions your company owns, rather than treating a Salesforce contact database as a licensing opportunity. A useful scope might describe permitted handoffs, qualification reasoning or case resolution. Customer records, imported lists and confidential commercial details require separate exclusion decisions.

## A backup export is a starting inventory

Salesforce documents a Data Export service that produces CSV backup files, with frequency and permissions depending on edition and configuration. The relevant export permission can expose broad data, including custom objects and fields.

An administrator should therefore identify the minimum objects and fields needed for the assessment. Do not hand over a full backup simply because it is easy to obtain. Review imported and third-party data separately, and confirm that object relationships survive the chosen extraction method.

## Separate a record snapshot from a decision history

A current opportunity stage says where a deal is now. It does not necessarily explain the questions, approvals and handoffs that moved it there. For evaluation, identify the actual records that document the process and distinguish them from current property values.

Prefer firm-owned operating material and permitted process records over prospect identities. A buyer should be able to understand why an exception was escalated without receiving a list of people to contact. Keep live pipeline strategy, confidential prices and customer commitments out of the default sample.

## Choose a defensible evaluation scope

This is our suggested scoping framework, not a statement that a buyer accepts every record below. Review contractual rights and the intended use before preparing a sample. Technical access to a record does not establish permission to license it.

| Record or context | What to evaluate | Boundary to keep |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Current object fields | A structured inventory and final state | Do not present a snapshot as a full activity history |
| Internal process notes | Qualification or handoff reasoning where permitted | Remove personal data and confidential deal specifics |
| Imported contacts or enrichment | Provenance and reuse restrictions | Exclude third-party lists without explicit reuse rights |

## Test relationships after redaction

Create a small object map showing how an allowed case or opportunity relates to its permitted process notes. Replace identifiers consistently within that example, and verify that removing names has not broken the relationship between records.

Tell a buyer whether the package represents sales process, support process or something else. Those are different evaluation questions. The platform name alone does not establish a buyer match, and a record count should not be converted into a price.

Illustrative scenario · fictional company

## Salesforce: a fictional scoping example

A fictional software vendor evaluates internal sales-to-implementation handoffs. It excludes prospect contact details, purchased enrichment and negotiated contract terms. A sample keeps the approved implementation requirement, the team’s scoping discussion and the handoff outcome, connected by replacement identifiers. The administrator discovers that the selected report shows only current stages, so the company removes a claim that it contains full historical stage movement.

## When to pause or narrow the scope

Client work and customer files are excluded from this starting scope. Assess company-owned internal records separately from personnel, health, privileged or NDA-restricted material.

- The proposed package is mainly a prospect or customer contact list.
- Imported records carry restrictions the company cannot resolve.
- Confidential deal terms cannot be separated from the process reasoning.

## Your preparation checklist

1. Name the workflow and the objects that actually record it.
2. Identify third-party enrichment and customer-owned material.
3. Separate current fields from historical activity evidence.
4. Test record relationships after consistent identifier replacement.
5. Agree on permitted use before creating a broader export.

Start with a description of the records. The quote form does not ask you to upload a dataset.

## Questions about Salesforce

Still unsure? [Get a free quote](https://quotemydata.com/quote)

### Is this about selling Salesforce contacts?

No. This assessment concerns company-owned operational reasoning and workflow records. A contact list raises different rights and privacy questions and is not the default scope.

### Does our Salesforce contract permit AI licensing?

Confirm the actual agreement and intended use. Product export documentation describes technical capability, not approval for a commercial data license.

### Can we assess data without connecting a buyer to Salesforce?

Start by describing the scope and preparing an authorized sample. Determine whether that is sufficient before considering any system access.
